Background
In 1974 Rikke van Berk started at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, Mechanical Engineering, and graduated in 1981. After school he started his career at Exxon in Rotterdam at the oil refinery department. In 1984 Rikke van Berk switched to Van Oord and became a production estimator. Four years later he started at Damen Shipyards Group and had worked in positions in production and project management and as a managing director. In his last years at Damen Rikke van Berk was responsible for all dredging equipment related activities of the group. After 12 years Rikke van Berk needed a different challenge and he started working for IHC Holland NV in Sliedrecht. His position here was managing director of the yard in Kinderdijk, The Netherlands, where he became responsible for the Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers. In 2005 he started his own consultancy, which is very successful. An interesting project with this consultancy was to build up a state-of-the-art yard for complex workboats in India. Next to this Rikke van Berk is supervisory board member of a foundation in the Netherlands.
