Sales Engineer/ Technisch Verkoper (NL)

The Role

For VOSTA LMG in Hoofddorp (NL), we are in search of a Sales Engineer. You will be responsible for the daily execution of the commercial / sales process. You report to and will share tasks and responsibility with the (Senior) Commercial Manager. You provide technical commercial support and contribute to market development. Furthermore, you will work intensively with the engineering and office support department.

Key accountabilities

  • Participates in structural and incidental consultations with production and others.
  • Discusses questions and requests with the Commercial Manager and when applicable with colleagues on DS&C level.
  • Scans possible requests for quotation even before the estimating phase. Assesses risks and opportunities.
  • Takes full responsibility for the assigned (especially less complex and/or less extensive and/or less commercially vulnerable) projects. From inquiry moment to handover to Engineering or Product-/Project Manager. Is central point of contact in this phase.
  • Backs up the Commercial Manager when dealing with large (or more complex) projects and supports Key Account activities where necessary / possible.
  • Provides relationship management to Key Accounts.
  • Acts as a sparring partner, also regarding Market Development.
  • Constantly contributes (in collaboration with Estimating, Purchase, customers, market parties) to gathering knowledge (libraries) about cost prices and development of rates / commercial prices.
  • Participates in CRM management.
  • Contributes to registration of opportunities, projects that are commissioned and projects that have not been awarded.
  • Determines priorities.
  • Actively coordinates workload-/distribution with the Commercial Manager.
  • Demonstrates safe working behaviour, prevents environmental impact when carrying out work, uses quality-oriented working methods. Promotes this behaviour towards others.

 

Skills & experience

  • The position requires a level of work and thinking that corresponds to at least associate level.
  • Knows the maritime world and more specifically dredging industry (with regard to both the supply and demand side).
  • Knows the commercial processes and the relations / relationships.
  • Shows sustained energy and a flexible disposition.
  • Willing to travel to international customers and exhibitions.
  • Has substantive technical knowledge of the dredging equipment and components when (advising on or) making commercial choices.
  • Is ambitious to hit targets and continues to perform consistently, even under pressure of time or major interests.
  • Has exceptional social and communication skills. Combines sustainable trust with showing decisiveness.
  • Has user knowledge with regard to (for commerce) important applications (Microsoft Office applications, SharePoint, CRM and ERP application).
  • Masters the English language at a level that important matters / details in documents are not missed, (potential) customers are spoken to effectively and letters / emails / reports hit the core and the right tone.
  • Knows all relevant regulations, including working conditions, environmental and safety regulations/resources.

 

The Ideal Candidate has

BSc/MSc technical and/or commercial education

5 - 10 years experience in a similar position in a Shipbuilding/ Dredging (or related) company

5 - 10 years experience in International Sales of (large) and technically advanced capital goods

Proven relationship management and internal/ external teaming skills

Excellent verbal and written command of the Dutch and English language
